Each box contains 10 or more curtains in a random assortment of colors and patterns
Handmade by artisans in India, these repurposed silk curtains have lived countless lives as textiles in the form of silk sari skirts worn by Indian women before being upcycled into colorful curtains.
Sometimes, the imperfections we expect in reclaimed and recycled fabric curtains exceed the threshold we are comfortable selling as is to our customers. Rather than discarding these, we would love crafters and makers to do what they do best and find new uses for the fabric! So we decided to sell them as scrap fabric.
In almost all cases the damage is very localized, resulting in a lot of material still to work with. We have tried our best to exclude examples of the types of issues we see that cause us to pull out of our retail supply, but cannot account for every possible situation. They generally fall into the following categories: snags & pulls, stains, and low-quality fabrication.
Each bulk silk order (10 curtains) will be packaged in a medium size flat rate USPS box. Each box will be stuffed to its max, but as some fabrics are naturally heavier than others, the total weight will vary.
Each curtain consists of 6 different sari fabrics sewn together vertically with tabs for hanging at the top. Each curtain is approximately: 84 x 54 inches or 31.5 square feet.
